Quality Personal Finance Articles: Volume III

Here’s the latest batch of five interesting and useful financial articles I’ve come across lately:

1.   My Money Blog relayed a story last week about Zecco’s April Fool’s Day joke.  What would you do if your online stock broker accidentally updated your account with millions of dollars in buying power – on April 1st?

2.   Jeremy at Gen X Finance produced a great, comprehensive article last week about why you shouldn’t try to time the market.  Chances are, timing the market will only result in less money for you in retirement.

3.   According to Suze Orman, you should stop paying off your credit card debt if you don’t have a sizable emergency savings fund.  This is the complete opposite of what Suze used to preach.  David at My Two Dollars tells you why she’s done a 180.

4.   The Weakonomist decided to take on economists this past week in his article, “Ten Things I Hate About Economists”.  My favorite point he makes is that economists aren’t businessmen.  I’ve seen many cases of educators with no experience working for a publicly traded company pass judgment on those that have spent their lives in the corporate world.

5.   I read a couple stories lately about self storage unit auctions.  Dawn at Frugal For Life attended one recently and recounted her experience for us.  Prior to this week I didn’t know self storage unit auctions even existed.  It’s a very interesting way to make a few extra bucks.
